Alexa C. first came to StepUp

Ministry because her mom sent her.

However, after spending more time in the Real World Program, she wanted to come.

At the beginning of her StepUp experience, Alexa was living with passivity: “I wasn’t very motivated to do things – I just went with the flow.” That changed as she was exposed to new, compelling approaches to life.

As she spent more time in the Real World Program, Alexa developed the ability to deal with responsibilities in the now rather than waiting for later. “My mindset went from ‘if’ to ‘I will’,” she shares. This “I will” mindset enabled Alexa to identify her goals and take the necessary steps to achieve them.

Alexa also broadened her internal and external point of view: “StepUp helped me change my way of thinking.” Alexa learned how to compliment her naturally artistic skills with a strategic, intentional point of view.

A natural leader in her community, Alexa now has a broader view of herself and the world. And she aspires to use that knowledge to become the best version of herself.

It is individuals like Alexa that StepUp seeks to cultivate into who they want – and can – become.
