StepUp participants are continuously building skills, community, and careers. When employers partner with us to hire StepUp participants or connect us to potential employers who will, they provide an opportunity for success.
Our promise to employers:
- We refer pre-screened candidates.
- We provide ongoing employer/employee support after a participant is hired.
- We assist the employer in locating a replacement in the event that a participant is promoted, resigns, or is involuntarily dismissed from their position.
The ideal employer:
- Offers or is willing to consider vocational training opportunities (internships, apprenticeships, mentorships, etc.)
- Aligns with StepUp’s Mission, Vision, and Values.

Robert Sorochak has hired StepUp participants at NC State for over six years. Many are hired into entry-level roles where they develop the skill set needed to be successful in the food service industry.
