Back on Track: William B.

March ’23 Life Skills Graduate

This is William B. He is 50 years old and has lived in Raleigh most of his life. During William’s teenage years, he started to experiment with substances and alcohol as a way to fit in. Soon after that, school was no longer his priority and his grades started failing. William eventually dropped out of school in the 9th grade. The attitudes he had in high school followed him into adulthood until he decided to make a change in his life. He eventually gave StepUp Ministry a call. William says, “This was one of the best decisions of my life.”

Since he started the Life Skills program at StepUp Ministry, William has become more focused on getting his life back on track. He took the initiative to open a bank account and establish not only a checking account, but also a savings account. Most recently, he has been working on re-establishing a good credit score. He has other long-term goals like getting his license, a car, and starting his own food truck.

William shares, “I would highly recommend anyone who is struggling with any type of addictions to try StepUp Ministry because they have given me a second chance in life and they can do the same for others.” He is an inspiring example of StepUp Ministry’s mission to provide ambitious individuals the resources for achieving success. We are thrilled that William is now part of the StepUp community.
